Re: NOUN's textbooks fruad
Genga Olufemi,
National Open University of Nigeria
14/16, Ahmadu Bellow Way, V/Island, Lagos.
Your publication of Monday, march 17, 2014 entiled, "NOUN's text book fruad" written by one Engr. Alex Chukuma, 31, Commercial Road, Apapa, Lagos refers.
In the write-up, Chukuma alleged that "every semester, the students are compelled to pay huge amount of money for textbooks. Yet, these books are never supplied but are sold by individuals".
For the record, students of the National Open University of Nigeria do NOT pay for textbooks/course materials. They only pay for registration of courses after which course materials are given to them. Students have the options of accessing these study materials through the formats made available by the university.
During registration/matriculation, students aqre given necessary information about accessing course materials and about the university in general. Therefore, it is either Chukuma, assuming he is a registered NOUN student, is displaying crass ignorance or is downright mischievous by maligning the university. He is therefore urged to retrace his footsteps and sto this campaign of calumny against the university.
NOUN spends a substantial part of its yearly budgetary allocation on production of study material for its teeming students.
